If I damage my personal data file, can it be repaired?
Possibly. .. but under no circumstances try any remedy before you have made a copy of your data file in a safe place in case the attempted repair actually damages it further. To reduce the chances of data corruption, and to improve performance, the LodgeDat database is repaired and compacted automatically every time it is shut down. The built-in compact and repair action can fix many small errors without your intervention and the status bar (bottom left) informs you that the database is being compacted and repaired when you close the application. Shutting down your computer, or any application, using anything other than the correct controls may damage your computer's files, not just the LodgeDat database. Avoid simply switching off your computer; use the correct procedure at all times. If you find damaged data at any time - STOP. Do not make multiple attempts to open the file; this may damage the file further. If you bought the CD version of LodgeDat, you will find a repair utility on the CD - 'JetComp.exe'. It is also installed by the download version at:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LodgeDat\JetComp
If you need to download it, you can find information about it here. WARNING: Please remember to make a copy of your user data file BEFORE running the utility. The utility is not supported or endorsed by LodgeDat in any way, and you use it at your own risk.
