LodgeDat was built using Microsoft Access 2003 and is designed to take advantage of newer versions of Office. If you have Office 2002 or Office 2003, there should be no issues of compatibility.

LodgeDat has not been tested in-house with Office 2007, but feedback from users so far is positive.

Issue: Unpatched versions of Windows 2000

Users of Windows 2000 which have not been fully updated may find that LodgeDat will not run.

Resolution

Download and install Service Pack 4 (SP4) for Windows 2000 from here.

Issue: Versions of Windows prior to Windows 2000

LodgeDat will not run on versions of Windows prior to Windows 2000.

The version of Access supplied with LodgeDat is not certified by Microsoft for use with versions of Windows prior to Windows 2000 SP3.

Resolution

Upgrade to a newer version of Windows.

Issue: Previously installed versions of Microsoft Access

If you already use a version of Microsoft Access prior to 2002, your existing installation may prevent the running of the version supplied with LodgeDat. This is a limitation of Microsoft's products, not that of LodgeDat itself and is recognised by Microsoft as a "known issue" but a patch is NOT available from Microsoft.

(I am currently trying to produce a version of LodgeDat that works around the problem and will publish it as soon as possible. Meanwhile, please be aware that you may not be able to get LodgeDat running if you already have a version of Access earlier than 2003 installed.)

Resolution

Either:
Uninstall all older versions of Access and upgrade to Access 2003.

Or:
If you do not use Access for anything else:

  • Uninstall LodgeDat and any updates that have been applied
  • Remove all traces of Access, including the Access runtime installed by LodgeDat (from Add/Remove Programs)
  • Re-install LodgeDat

Please come back and see how I am getting on.
