When you first run LodgeDat ...
- If you already have MS Access, and have already enabled
'Sandbox Mode', you will be unable to run LodgeDat until you have recorded
LodgeDat's Digital Certificate as described later.
- A security warning will (may) appear. This is not a function of
LodgeDat; it's part of Microsoft Access. No-one would want their PC hi-jacked,
so Access checks to see if you want to run the program. This warning can be
disabled later once LodgeDat has been installed.
- At this stage, choose 'No' - you do not want to block unsafe
expressions.
- A further security warning will appear telling you about
Microsoft Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8. You can eliminate the warning for the future
by doing the following steps.
- Choose 'Yes' - you want to open the file.
- You will receive a third security warning. This time, you will
be told that the program has been digitally signed.
- To record the digital signature for later use, choose the
'Details' button. If you do not install the certificate, you will continue to
receive Microsoft's security warnings.
- Select 'View Certificate' from the next dialog.
- Select 'Install Certificate' from the next dialog and follow
the Certificate Import Wizard that appears, choosing the default settings at
each stage.
- Yet another security warning will appear; select 'Yes' - you
want to install the certificate.
- Exit from the certificate dialog by clicking 'OK' twice.
- Select 'Open' from the remaining security dialog.
- LodgeDat will now start, and you will be asked to add some
settings to be used by LodgeDat. Do not skip this stage; you will be able to
change them later, but it will be useful if you do them now.
- Your email address - The lodge you want to be used as
your default - the one you want to open automatically (If your Lodge is not
on the pre-supplied list, you will need to enter the details later - when the
LodgeDat installation is complete - before you can set it as the default.) -
If you have a preference, select the mapping system you prefer - Set the
size of labels you usually use - Select your version of Office - Select
Outlook or Outlook Express as your preferred email program (You can set a
different program later) - Select your version of Windows
- When you have completed your selections, click 'Finish'.
- Start LodgeDat again ...
When you next run LodgeDat ...
- A security warning will appear. (See above.)
- This time, choose 'Yes' - you want to block unsafe
expressions.
- You will be prompted to restart LodgeDat.
- Start LodgeDat again ...
- You will receive another security warning. Again, you will be
told that the program has been digitally signed.
- Tick the box labeled 'Always trust files from this publisher
...'
- Select 'Open'.
- You will be reminded to register your copy of LodgeDat.
- This message will continue to appear until your copy is
registered.
- Click 'OK'.
- The Main Menu will appear.
- If you have completed all the
security stages correctly, you will not be bothered with security warnings
again, but your PC will be safe.
